Hi there!

I’m so happy you’ve made your way to A Sweet Spoonful. My name is Megan Gordon, and I’m a San Francisco-based food writer. I work on this blog mostly at night or early in the mornings–recording the previous night’s kitchen fumblings or recent restaurant excursions. I love artisan ice cream and almond croissants. And Nutella. In this photo, I’m eating a maple bacon donut up in Portland, Oregon with my friends Heather, Reggie, and Linnea. I was a vegetarian for thirteen years and recently began eating meat again–so anything with bacon excites me. Especially when combined with baked goods. Look how happy I look.

I grew up in Eureka, CA., attended college in Boulder, CO., and finished graduate school in Boston. I taught Composition/Rhetoric at Boston College for a few years, and moved on to teach high school English here in the Bay Area. But times are tough for teachers and it became difficult to find work. So I decided to pursue the thing that scares me but excites me the most: writing. And here we are.

I’m currently working on freelance projects, and writing restaurant reviews for The San Francisco Examiner. I’m not a formally trained cook (or writer, for that matter) but I love trying new restaurants and cafes, and writing and talking about them with friends. Now, you’re in that circle…thank you for dropping by.
